Octopus Electronics was founded in 1996 by Gavin Nunn, who single-handedly grew the company into a successful, reputable industry leader. Due to terminal illness Gavin sold the business to Trevor Quigley in 2016 who relocated the business from Cape Town to Johannesburg.

Octopus Electronics now offers a Sewer CCTV Condition Classification Course which is a globally recognised WRc course for professionals working with key aspects of sewer and manhole inspection, assessment as well as conditions coding, and follows recognised specifications laid out in the 5th Edition of the Manual of Sewer Condition Classification (MSCC5).
A state-of-the-art sales, training and repair facility opened for operation in November 2016. Mr Trevor Quigley spared no expense developing the facility to ensure professional, expedient services across the board. The extensive warehouse affords Octopus Electronics the capacity to stock a wide variety of units for sale and a substantial quantity of spare parts for fast efficient servicing, sales and repairs. In addition, the service technicians at Octopus Electronics have received first hand technical training from iPEK, Vetter and minCam in Germany, Tracto-Technik, Troglotech, the WRc and Scanprobe in the United Kingdom, and WinCan in Switzerland.
